Hello!

This lovely girl is Julia Hodgdon. She is currently a second year at CSULB and in pre-social work. She is currently dorming on campus and the reason why is because her mother would worry if she had food to eat (she can’t cook). She is from Pasadena, Monrovia. A fun fact about her is that she went to the high school where they filmed Another Cinderella Story with Hillary Duff. She wants to be a social worker because she likes the call to help, much like nursing, but without the blood. She loves children and old people and hopes to work with them in the future. Her mother is also a social worker, so she got an insight on what they do. The things we have in common is that we both love to nap and we both cannot cook. She also works in the convenience store, so if you see her say hi! Another thing we have in common is that we’re also in the same biology class! So now I have a biology study buddy :).

For the conversation this week, we had to discuss why art matters. Julia’s take on “why art matters” is that without art we cannot relieve our feelings. We live in a world where everyone focuses on money and how to be successful. I agree with Julia, because there are a lot of people who don’t know how to express themselves and they would bottle up their feelings. Without art we wouldn’t have a medium to express ourselves. People don’t have to have amazing skills with art. All people have to do is either draw, write, build, or sculpt to express themselves.

  1. Nice blog post Natalie!

“People don’t have to have amazing skills with art. All people have to do is either draw, write, build, or sculpt to express themselves.” — or write a poem or sing or dance! 🙂

Or say Hello to a stranger!
